yes, but a new entity with new owners doing the same thing is not a Phoenix.

It’s literally just RA handing the licence to a new entity, and off we go.

Honestly, if I was at RA – that’s what I’d be doing. Sacrifice the current entity, issue a new licence (possibly to RA itself as they’re so pro centralisation) and run the team from HQ.

Keep Rugby in Melbourne, meet the TV deal requirements, and write of $20M of debt – all while being completely legal. Sucks to be a Rebels director, but that’s what you sign up for when you put your name on the company minutes.

They’ll get nothing back. Particularly as directors with tax debt, they’re screwed.

When RA issues 1.7M in grant funding and turns it into a loan, that’s shitty governance from RA.

That’s nearly 9M over 5 seasons which wouldn’t solve the problem but it would bloody help!

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because the Rebels go under, that Aus can only have 4 teams, or that RA can’t issue a licence to a new Melbourne Phoenix (let’s call them)

They’d start with a clean slate, and inherit the groundwork of the Rebels, but I doubt RA would do it without a Vic Gov sponsorship for at least 5 years locked in.

Loans to companies that the directors own, to try and keep the club afloat is my understanding.

They 100% do.

Director Penalty Notices have been issued for the unpaid debts.

Directors are screwed, and frankly, this is a terrible case of governance from both RA and the Rebels.

JOC is done.
Love him, but he’s no longer doing much more than providing bench and squad cover. He certainly shouldn’t be stifling the development of up and coming 10s / 12s

'Bit of a bully moment': The Lomu-esque try that confirmed Reds star is back to make Wallabies push

You think that.
But Lynagh on at 10 contributed well under 10% of the team total points in just under a half of football.

Please explain how scoring fewer points is better, because it never has been in the world I live in.

'A bit deflating': Headaches for Waratahs after Reds trial thrashing, Brumbies win after Force miss post-siren kick

Yeah. Only time I’ve seen him play he been mid 130s, and the batsmen weren’t rushed.

Neser selection doesn’t matter much now to Test team but it slows down fast bowler development for the future

Yeah. Someone’s just plumping for Lynagh. Didn’t watch the game by the look of the comments here.

Mate,
The Reds scored what, 29 points with HMP on?

They played as flat and fast with him at 10 as I’ve seen in a decade

For mine, he starts at 10 next week.

I don’t know Bobby, he showed how hard he could get hit coming around the corner.

Got smashed once, and we didn’t see him again.

Shut down the Tahs.
They just take money from other states that can actually play rugby.

Well they seem to annoy the hell out of you, so for a lot of people on this forum, that’s worth the money to keep them.

Brumbies shut down talk of following Rebels into voluntary administration

You’re right Eddie- Hard decisions do need to be made.

Like suing you to return the money that you took from RA under false pretenses – e.g. that you were a rugby coach..

Tool

'Want to show rugby isn't dead in Melbourne': Rebels skipper's fighting words as Eddie calls for 'hard decisions'

Sydneysiders tho….

Rugby Australia is back where they hoped they would never return - and their next move could make or break the game

What exactly was he trying to cover up? I mean hide. I mean clean..

'Freak accident using a powerful detergent' sends Rassie Erasmus to hospital with chemical burns

Not in Qld mate. It’s regularly 26 /27 degrees at 7 pm here.

Rebels told they will play Super Rugby in 2024 but future on shaky ground as voluntary administration looms

Yes RA could try that.

But the only thing they’ve shown a skill for developing, is poor business plans and dire media coverage.

Sydney is a complete drain on the rest of the country..

The Chokatahs just handed all their debt to RA, and the Sydney boys club.is a major reason the game is in dire straights.

Rebels told they will play Super Rugby in 2024 but future on shaky ground as voluntary administration looms

Yes. Shrink our way to success, because we were small and good in the amateur era.

This kind of thinking is insane.

Good luck JS.

On the talent point, I disagree that we don’t have the talent. Our issue has been systems and coaching.

Don’t believe me?

Take it from Big Ange, who said just this last few months,

“I don’t think there’s a lot of difference between the best quality and the next level, it’s really small. But the character makes the big jump. I put a lot of stock in that.”

'Not a hit and run': Schmidt explains short-term deal and why he 'surprised' himself by taking Wallabies job

Pitch was great. Batsmen were challenged off both edges. If they truly got to the pitch of the ball and smothered the spin, they were on top – but they didn’t.

Possibly why we always lose in India.

'Looked like Chennai': Ponting blasts 'substandard' pitch as rank turner helps Agar to ridiculous figures

Don’t use logic mate. We’re here for nonsense!

Pat Cummins isn't Dennis Lillee's fast-bowling equal - he's actually much better

You got to face MM?

Awesome. Who were you playing for?

Agreed on Steyn – he somehow gets overlooked in the conversation about greatest bowlers, but he had it all.
