Samu for Valetini? I’m just not seeing that, to be honest. Valetini is providing some impressive grunt with the carry, defense and ruck and been part of a really good scrum and maul defence.
I reckon he’s earned himself a run at 8 and I like seeing a scary unit there.

I’m with piru … we need to get back to separation between legislators and the public service … The Minister shouldn’t be making those decisions it should be a truly transparent process operated by the public service with an appeals process. Legislators make the law, it’s administered elsewhere. Too many power hungry politicians have done away with that

He won’t because the red card being rescinded means he, and every kick receiver, now has a green light to stick their boot out like that.
Unfortunate in the sense Marika copped it in the face but let’s not be in any doubt that kick receivers are increasingly doing this to clear space and make sure they don’t get smashed by a well timed and legal tackle

This idea that Marika timed the tackle wrong is a bunch of bollocks. He still had two steps to go to make the tackle when he got kicked in the face. It’s a clear as day in the picture. Jordy sticks the boot intentionally – not to hit or hurt Marika but as a way of avoiding getting smashed by a well timed and legal tackle. It’s rubbish.
Now we’re going to see it all the time and someone is going to get seriously hurt simply for playing good defence.

A very bad precedent and now we’re going to see it coached into the game even more – raised boots, head height and studs up … more people are going to be kicked in the face and all because the kick receiver wants to avoid that perfectly timed and perfectly legal tackle that smashes him as soon as his boot touches the ground.

Most of us here have played before and you don’t need to kick out like that. We’ve got years of international rugby where it doesn’t happen so that argument doesn’t hold water at all

I could accept that if he wasn’t kicking the ball in his next stride when the whistle was blown. He should have just let him kick it.
