Never make your best opening bowler captain, scraping the barrel comes to mind, but then it seems that no one here can agree who should captain Australia. However cricket can make fools of us all.

Broad is a seam bowler not a swing bowler. It’s almost impossible to prepare a pitch to take spin that depends on the atmosphere present on the day.

A very one siuded view, Engalad have had far more cricket than Australia this year and have very sucessful in all forms of the game. Most of Engalad’s players are exelent fielders and two bowlers are 90mph and over. Broad will go but not Anderson. Willy and Wokes are swing bowlers so why take them to the flat track wickets and the Cookie ball? You maybe in for a surprize.

The first time we allowed a limited crowd into the ground and we got this some were falling to sleep on the last day. No attempt to get under 300 to win but settled for a draw from the first ball, the most negative crap I have ever watched, but if anyone who thought this was England’s first team they are day dreaming. What we got were opening bats that all been tried before and the rest were hopefuls and the one success we had the powers that be dropped him for some comments he made at the age of eighteen, even our PM disagreed with that.
Personally I would drop Root, the most negative captain we have for a few years and give the captains job to the vice captain Stoles. He would never settle for a draw from the first ball unless there was no option..

I take your point but this lot where no wear near to England’s full test side. Instead we got more evidence of the search for an opening pair that’s been going on for over a year. The first time a limited crowd could watch a game and long before the end they were falling asleep. Solution? give the captaincy to the vice captain and we will get a totally new approach and let Stokes’s captain the side. It won’t happen but it should do.

The most boring last day cricket match I’ve ever watched. England only wanted 280 odd but never made any attempt to get them. They were playing under orders and you can easily spot the one who gave the orders. Root is a fine batsman but as a captain xxxxx

A very slow first day, I think that the match depends on England’s first innings of 300 plus would be OK. Once again England are experimenting and frankly I’m getting fed up with this endless search for players, it hasn’t produced anything and so far a waste of time. Finally congrats to Conway truly a great innings without a fault, magnificent.

Yes I have never respected Warner as a man, getting a newbe to do his dirty work for him is way below the belt. Taking a swing at Root, the smallest member
of the England team, did nothing to earn respect either. Try that against a few others of the team and he would have got flattened.

Archer does have a useful pace but too often drops to the middle eighties when things don’t go for him and we have plenty of them. Wood is actually faster than Archer, well into the middle 140 s and is and also very good fielder. We will see and nice to see the crowds back again.

That depends on whether England use the Tests to try out opening pairs or play establish players, anyone’s guess. If it was a full five Test fixture expect Broad Anderson and Bairstow would play.
