Here’s where your $12 went.

If you are still not happy, sign your kids up to AFL and get a free $20 NAB bank account, free goodies and 2 free tickets to all the Lions and Suns games.

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

Roarchild, maybe if it cost $0 to run all the competitions, programs and teams they do, they might pass the savings on to you

But really, you want to begrudge the FFA a lousy $12.

Why don’t you google how much the AFL and NRL get from every registration?

You’ll find its a lot more than $12 and they have a lot more income and a lot less expenses and don’t have as much work to do as the FFA.

Fussball the voice of football reason.

This is yet another beat up by Dugald and his mates to pin blame on the FFA for everything.
I really don’t understand why they bother.

If football is that bad, then why do they spend so much time bagging it

. . . [the sound of a penny dropping]

Sorry mate, but still don’t understand your point.

Are you saying Lowy is influincing the ASF or FFA and that their elections are corrupt?

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

You’re talking about an annual general meeting, not a democracy – voting isn’t open to everyone, just the ASF board members.
The fact that Lowy didn’t get what he wanted and left proves its a democracy otherwise, what’s your point.

Lowy was recently unanimously returned as the FFA Chairman.

People can vote how they like – that’s a democracy.

Do you mean Adelaide United not Adelaide City – but with so much BS flying around here does it really matter?

Whether you pay $100 or $10,000 to play football the FFA still only gets $12.00. Not the FFA’s fault.
The clubs can charge what they want or what the demand is. Its then up to the parents to decide what they want to pay.

A big club would obviously cost more to join than an average suburban club, otherwise they wouldn’t have enough room for them all.
And its not just the money – you have to interview, audition and trial and get selected into the squad, so its not like little Johnny goes and joins a club to play football.

Its a career path to a professional football contract like acting or drama school.

Come on TC.

You, like Palmer and Dugald are trying to create the impression that the FFA are ripping people off.
They are not.

It costs a 6 year old $0 to play rugby league in Melbourne and in Sydney they give you a $20 NAB account to play AFL.

How is the VFA or FFA supposed to compete with that?

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

Its funny how everyone is hoping Folau plays, not so that the Giants have a better chance of winning, but suposedly so the crowd and ratings are better.

If the AFL marketing department have any say in it, he’ll be playing.

Folau, Butcher booked in AFL matches

Mike,
for me its not just about the sport as entertainment, its also about the behaviour of the codes administrators and fans.

I used to be a Melbourne Demons member and had been for many years, but ever since Demetriou and the AFL took a stand against the FIFA WC being played in Melbourne and took legal action against Melbourne Heart for calling themselves a Melbourne Football Team, I have vowed to never spend another cent on AFL.

The behaviour at an AFL game by the opposing Collingwood fans was so drunken, disgraceful and violent, that I will never take my family there again.

I am a paid up member of Melbourne Heart Football Club and look forward to them beating Sydney on Saturday night in our magnificent new stadium to make the A-League finals for the first time in our history.

Don’t forget we beat them 4-0 just a few months ago.

A-League clubs should welcome multi-sports fans

I think in a strange but appropriate sort of way Buckley was the best person to deal with Palmer. He is very level headed and unemotional and just deals with the facts calmly and rationally.

If we had had a hot-headed, reactionary CIO, it would have blown out into a back page war of words and the anti-football commentators and media would have had a field day with it.

In the end, the FFA have done a very good job of diffusing the GCU bomb and have focussed primarily on the league and sorting out next season as soon as practical.

Palmer is the one left with no credibility and no genuine football fan is taking any notice of him.

We now have three possibilities for expanding the A-League next season in GCU under new owners and/or West Sydney and possibly Canberra.
The whole saga has actually created more opportunities than before.

Palmer an unnecessary distraction, says FFA

Shows you between the Daily Telegraph and the Sydney Morning Herald which one is cash for comment.

GWS Giants 2012 preview

That’s pretty poor journalism Davidde, just quoting another dodgy FFA and A-League hating journalist.

Firstly, don’t believe anything that TheWorldGame or SBS says about the A-League.
They have an axe to grind bigger than Clive Palmer’s mouth.
Unless MV hire Pep Guardiola as the manager, they won’t stop bagging Victory and the A-League.

If Magilton is selected and I doubt it, then the MV board would have picked the best manager they could afford under the circumstances.

Ange Postecoglou had a worse record than Magilton when he started at the Roar and now is The A-League’s most in demand manager.

And if Magilton fails again at the start of next season, then despite a 2 year deal, like Durakovic, he will be sacked and replaced.

Magilton's re-appointment a step further away from Victory

TC seems to me you have something against the FFA.

Despite what SBS or anyone else says, the FFA is listening to Canberra and talking to them about the possibility of joining the A-League this year.

Isn’t that great news for the people of Canberra.

Canberra in A-League mix, says Lowy

The Suns have a lot more money behind them and they will never fail no matter how bad they are compared to the bears or Lions.

Are the Gold Coast Suns any better than the Brisbane Bears?

A-League clubs should move closer to the AFL/NRL model, where the FFA badgers governments and councils to re-develop grounds exclusively for A-League games, build up memberships, established licenced clubs with Poker machines and other forms of revenue.

The current franchise system is not that profitable unless they can double attendances and football revenues across the board.

A-League prosperity needs clubs to offer more than just football

Not so sure about the long term plan.

The only reason we have the Suns is becaue North Melbourne refused to relocate to the Gold Coast and someone else mentioned the Western Bulldogs were asked to move to West Sydney, but they too refused and hence the Giants.

Sometime, more by accident.

And I’m sure the AFL is very disappointed with the low membership numbers in Sydney for the Giants.

AFL growing in western Sydney

Wouldn’t it be great if we had 12 teams in next season’s A-League – with GCU staying afloat and then adding WSyd and Canberra.

Canberra in A-League mix, says Lowy

Interesting scenario.

Will the FFA pay a few million to keep GCU going for another season to try and get another 50 million on their TV deal or invest in a new WSyd team to get extra TV money?

Or whatever the FFA does, will Fox think its just a stunt to get more money out of them and the team won’t be supported by the FFA in the longer term.

The timing of Palmer’s childish outburst couldn’t have come at a worse time.

WIll be very interesting to see what happens.

Canberra in A-League mix, says Lowy

I agree with ItsCalled whatever.

Surely the FFA have every right to change their mind about expansion after the extraordinary events of the past few weeks.

Or do you people have someting against the FFA?

Canberra in A-League mix, says Lowy

The only reasons these people are in it is because of
a) the money
b) they hate the FFA for one reason or another and want revenge

This stupid, unqualified rabble who are not recognised by anyone for anything are a waste of space, but Palmer isn’t going to end this farce any time soon.

Instead of paying helicopters to say you have no freedom of speech, why didn’t you do some advertising stunts like that to promote the Gold Coast Palmer?

Palmer sets up national football inquiry

Who sided with Palmer in the latest Fiasco?

Who writes negative articles about the A-League, but effusive, glowing articles about European football and in particular Messi Barcelona and Le Arsenal?

I was absolutely flabbergasted when I watched the SBS “sport” report a couple of nights ago – they had 5 minutes on the Euro Champions League and nothing, absolutely nothing to report on the Asian Champions League.

SBS have agendas bigger than Palmer’s Bank Account.

Stop whinging and start understanding Asian football

Football is not just the A-League. The A-League is not “Soccer” in Australia.

90% of p[eople who play or follow football have never been to an A-League game. They can follow any number of local teams, national teams or one of the over 250 top flight overseas football competitions.

The FFA are doing a good job right across the board and there are record registrations for football players once again this year – my local club can’t cope with the numbers and actually had to turn some people away.

There is no chance of the Socceroos not competing for a place in the Brazil WC. They continue to receive widespread support and guess what, they are part of Australian football too!

The A-League has problems and I think its fantastic that these issues have come to the surface again and I’m confident they will be dealt with. The one with egg all over his face now is Palmer, not the FFA.

Even if the A-League did one day fold, its not the end of football in this country, which will continue to dominate peoples lives for many years to come.

Media sources continue to bash football

I’m not J-League bashing, I’m just sick of people bagging the A-League every time we lose a game to foreign oposition – we’ve also beaten overseas teams too you know.

People then try and re-enforce this by saying the Roar were beaten by a “second division” team.

Tokyo is not a 2nd division team – they spent 1 year in J-2 and bounced straight back winning the Emporers Cup, so they are quality opposition.

They caught Brisbane on the counter in a waterlogged game that didn’t suit Brisbane. The Roar will bounce back in the ACL.

What about AU’s great win in Uzbekistan and the CCM’s good result in China?

And what about the J-League Champions Kashiwa Reysol losing to an indonesian side and the 5-1 and 3-0 losses by the other teams.

Be fair!

A-League sides in Asia: not schooled, just learning

The J-League 2 is very weak and usually teams who go down come back up the next year as Tokyo did – they only spent 1 year in J2, so they are not a J2 team really.

Don’t forget they won the emporers cup to get into the ACL and beat every other team in the league.
