I don’t know about them being ahead of Wines, but they are two exceptional young players. The injuries are disappointing…I’d love to see them playing right now, considering the balance in the competition.

Which rising star would you rather: Shiel, Bontempelli or Wines?

Thanks Mister Football! It’s a fun exercise to compare players. I was thinking about either doing a Buddy vs Roughy comparison, or one with Bontempelli.

If anyone has any ‘who would you rather’ comparisons they’d like me to explore, I’d love to hear from you!

Thanks for your all you feedback everyone!

Tiarne 🙂

Who would you rather: Hogan, Boyd or Daniher?

Fair call. He has definitely put himself in the conversation.

Who would you rather: Hogan, Boyd or Daniher?

Cameron has played over 50 games so I didn’t include him.

Who would you rather: Hogan, Boyd or Daniher?

The question is more of who would you rather have in your team. But I agree with you – if discussing who would you rather be… Tom Boyd would be the front runner in terms of life outside of football.

Who would you rather: Hogan, Boyd or Daniher?

So far this season they have lost to Sydney, Fremantle and Hawthorn almost pinched their victory.

I’m saying that Port may be able to beat teams ranked 6th-18th on the ladder despite the Inside 50 count, but when they face the heavyweights…it will cost them.

It almost did against Hawthorn who charged home, as I mentioned above.

I didn’t see that coming: Port Adelaide, Carlton and St Kilda

I was really surprised of his early form because of his broken leg, the fact that he is still a young, inexperienced player, and that he is playing is a very average team right now…In my opinion, he is over achieving for a player who has played 7 games.

It’s exciting. I thought Dylan Buckley and perhaps even Nick Graham would be performing better than him but they’re not.

I didn’t see that coming: Port Adelaide, Carlton and St Kilda

Well said.

I didn't see that coming: Collingwood, Melbourne and Richmond

A friend of mine who supports Sydney made the observation that Crisp reminds him of a Josh Kennedy type.
Big bodied, tall midfielder.
Definitely early days, but a great compliment from a Sydney fan after his performance on the weekend.

Pies get away with Crisp deal

I disagree. Like Wilson said above, if Martin was in one of the top 4 teams, we would be talking about him a lot more.

I had Selwood as my third. But I changed to Martin because of that raw explosiveness these three players display often throughout their games.

Who would you rather have in your midfield: Dangerfield, Fyfe or Martin?

If you don’t rate Elliot as a key small forward in the comp, you haven’t watched enough Collingwood games. Him and Blair are the only reliable things about the Pies forward line.

They’ll tackle, take marks inside 50 and kick goals every game.

I rate Taylor but he’s played one season. Green and Zorko are not in the same conversation as the three I’ve chosen in my opinion.

Which AFL small forward would you rather? Wingard, Walters or Elliott?

Blair and Puopolo are great small forwards – I agree with you.

I think they often go unnoticed and are very underrated and under appreciated (unless you go for the Hawks or Pies).

They perform every week and are two players who have definitely gotten the best out of themselves considering their size.

Which AFL small forward would you rather? Wingard, Walters or Elliott?

I mentioned at the top of the article that I had already compared Breust, Betts and Ballantyne last year so I wanted to do three new players.

Lecras is incredible but he is 28, and I was looking at small forwards in their early 20’s.

Motlop could have been interesting as well.

Which AFL small forward would you rather? Wingard, Walters or Elliott?

Gray is an established small forward and is now considered by some to be a premier midfielder as well.

He’s also 27. I’ve gone with the up and coming, emerging superstars of the comp in the small forward position.

Gray is a gem though.

Which AFL small forward would you rather? Wingard, Walters or Elliott?

Haha it’s already been sent in. Should be up tomorrow morning!

Who would you rather: Pendlebury, Heppell or Fyfe?

Check back tomorrow 🙂

Who would you rather: Pendlebury, Heppell or Fyfe?

Selwood is 1.82m, Danger is 1.88m

I’ve gone with emerging small forwards for tomorrow’s article.

Was keeping Selwood, Danger and possibly Martin/Parker for the explosive midfielder category.

Heppell was put in to create conversation, however, I admit Josh Kennedy would have been a great addition to this who would you rather.

Who would you rather: Pendlebury, Heppell or Fyfe?

Oh for sure. Fyfe is unmatchable at the moment. I can’t think of another player (maybe Dangerfield before the free agency buzz) who has this much praize, hype, excitement, dominance about them in the AFL currently.

I do think Pendlebury is taken for granted sometimes because he is seen as Mr. Reliable.

It was between Mundy, J. Kennedy and Heppell for the last spot (Bont is way to young to even compare), but I went with Heppell. Not in this league of players yet maybe, but he will be soon.

Who would you rather: Pendlebury, Heppell or Fyfe?

I put them together because they are seen as the taller midfielders.

Ablett is 1.82 m, and Judd, although 189, is not seen as tall by any means.

Ablett and Judd are more explosive anyway, and although Fyfe is on his way to reaching the dominance Ablett and Judd did in their prime, I still thought it would be an interesting comparison.

Who would you rather: Pendlebury, Heppell or Fyfe?

I didn’t forget Barlow, probably just marked him a little too harsh because of his injuries. He’s a super player but it doesn’t always come down to Brownlow votes in every discussion.

In terms of the ‘Western Australian players’ debate, I look at players from every club, every state when doing these articles. I make sure to research clubs like Fremantle, Gold Coast, West Coast, Brisbane in more depth than others because they don’t get much coverage over here.

However, if you go back to my revisiting draft series, I rated Mundy, Fyfe, Ballantyne, Hill, Mayne ect. all in my top 10’s for their respective drafts.

I also don’t think you can pull the ‘West’ card anymore, you’re the best team in the competition in my opinion right now, you have the best player and probably the best game plan.

Probably made a mistake with Barlow… but definately didn’t forget him

I would say they are on the same level – both are the young superstars of our competition.
I gave the edge to Heppell..,just
