Great Piece Geoff,

Taking one if the last points you mention I went back to something I usually think about.

Why there is no official YouTube channel with old games (say from the previous season or even two seasons ago)? Sometimes, when I’m bored at home, I’d like to watch some of the first Jaguares games. There are some posted but, an official YouTube channel would be ideal for that. It wouldn’t go against the current tv deals (I don’t know if it actually contradicts the one that is currently in force, but I mean, it would not “compete” with the way we watch live matches) and it would be an interesting way to find out more about what makes the fans tick.

The Wrap: SANZAAR perfects the art of the Rumba when it needs to Tango

I know it is far-fetched. Still, I think a franchise, perhaps in Mendoza, with support from companies from the region, might eventually be financially sustainable.
Regarding players, as Anibal said, there are several players that had little time with Jaguares that could be part of the team and also, several other could be brought back from Europe (like Socino was).
I know it is not simple, but I think it can, eventually, be done.

Why Argentina needs to get the import-export balance right

Hi Nick,

That was a great analysis of the match. I believe that, to some extent this relates to the piece Istanbul wrote about a potential second Argentinean franchise. If there was another team in Argentina there would be more chances to balance the export and import of players.
Diaz Bonilla did not play his best match in the final. I can only imagine the kind of pressure a match like that puts on your shoulders, still, if you want to play in the position of the playmaker, you know that that is what you are signing for.
Regarding props, it will take some time to get better. Medrano and Vivas are great projects and they play well during the campaign, but facing the best is not an easy task. I am sure that they learnt a lot from it.
We’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.

Why Argentina needs to get the import-export balance right

Thanks Istanbul for another very informative piece.

I always considered that, if Argentina were to get a second franchise, it should be based in Mendoza. It is very close to Santiago de chile which is a great gateway for flying to Oceania and, as you mentioned, is very rugby oriented. Also, it is a welthy region and that would help to support the second franchise.

Regarding the format, I think a 15 team round robin format (each team playing 14 matches) would be interesting. Regarding the argentinean teams, you could get the to tour at the same time (perhaps when on goes to Oz/NZ for a 4 matches tour, the other one goes to SA for a 3 matches tour and then a bye) That way every team that comes to Argentina has 2 matches to play making the travel and jetlag more beareable.

Argentina's case for a second Super Rugby franchise

Indeed, I would add my share to it!!!

“Hands of God” such a reminescenze

Super Rugby final: A rocky journey to Christchurch

If someone from Argentina deserves to be there it is you. You have been a great supporter for Argentinean rugby in general and Jaguares un particular.
Let’s hope you come back with the biggest smile your face can take!!!!!
ÉXITOS!!!!!!!!

Super Rugby final: A rocky journey to Christchurch

As I mentioned in other piece, the Hurricanes were undefeated against foreign opposition at home since 2015 and for more than 20 matches and this year they fell against the Jaguares.

This is a different story all in all, but still, it can be done.

It will take ALL these players have, but it is doable.

I go with Jaguares and Moroni opening the scoreboard with a try within 5 minutes.

Super Rugby final: A rocky journey to Christchurch

Interesting piece Horse,

In the case of Argentina, there’s been a similar issue. Several players decided to stay in Argentina and decline bigger sums of money for the privilege of representing the country.

This year (actually last year) European based Argentinean players were accepted, but that took place just as a back up for positions where there were weaknesses.

In the long run, it seems like a good strategy, but the price to pay might be high (as the toll of Pumas’ losses in these last years show).

James O'Connor: Faulty product to industry standard

Great analysis Nick, thank you for that!!!

Do you think that the Saders might have some undefended strength that the Jaguares might target this weekend?

Why things fell apart for the Brumbies in Buenos Aires

So clear, so simple, so true…

Super Rugby history worth celebrating. Or I’d have thought so…

Nobes opened the door for many of us letting us know of this wonderful place in La Nación.
I used to visit Planet Rugby every day. Now I only go there on Mondays to read the hot / cold section but enter The Roar several times a day!!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!!!!

Jaguares face David and Goliath battle against rugby's Real Madrid

Certainly…

Super Rugby team of the week: Semi-finals

Lavanini played a great game, but the Jaguares LOCK (with capital letters) is, without a doubt, Guido Petti.

I am also surprised that you feel that Matera didn’t make the cut (at least as an honorable mention).

Super Rugby team of the week: Semi-finals

So this time it’s a real challenge. Nobody has a similar position as the others. Interesting!!!!

I go with Jaguares Hurricanes (cause I want the final to be played in Argentina)

And try scorers Moroni will open the score board in Buenos Aires and Ardie Savea in NZ.

Super Rugby semi-finals: All eyes on the (sur)prize

Harry is very bold with his tips, however, I’ll go with Nobes and tips all 4 local teams.

Super Rugby quarter finals: Reset the counters

Very well played by the Australian team. They were the better side during the match.
Congrats from Argentina!!!

Junior Wallabies surge into historic World Championship final

Perhaps, this would be the moment to introduce a second team from Argentina. This could be better to justify to travels to South America.

SANZAAR should not force the Sunwolves to play out another year

The last Jaguares match against the Sunwolves was not so crowded, but I think next Friday we’ll see a very filled stadium!!!!
