So our grass roots aren’t as broken as we all thought?

13-man Junior Wallabies shock New Zealand in stunning win as skipper Teddy Wilson stars

If a journalist asked him what he thought about the Rugby League WC being cancelled I think his response was restrained and on point, don’t see why anyone would be offended by it.

'Rugby rests its case': McLennan's cheeky dig at league as sevens team reaches Paris Games, Hoops No.1 target

“Those reports haven’t come from inside this club. That’s been speculation outside. It’s not even been a discussion inside this club.”

Braith Anasta claimed on NRL 360 during the week that he had spoken to club officials at the Roosters who had said the club had discussed it and were considering showing JS the door…someone somewhere down the line has been telling porkies.

Roosters in a rage: Robinson fires up on Suaalii early Wallabies release speculation - and gives McLennan a backhander

“What orifice did he pull that number out of ???”

Simple business projection based on previous tours…for example in 2013 RA made a $35million profit (with revenue obviously much higher).

“They’ll flog the Western Force by 80+”

Ah no, the preliminary draw has already been reported (by The Times.uk) and the Lions aren’t playing the Western Force at all. They are playing a Pacifica team instead.

“Who’ll pay to watch that”

The 40-50k travelling (and expat) Lions fans that couldn’t go to South Africa last tour due to covid will be bursting at the seams and will ensure the stadiums will be sold out.

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

Journos on game day, my bad

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

Nick Frost has put himself in that conversation, I think he has them all covered.

Every country has a position that defines its rugby soul. For the land of Ned Kelly, look no further than No.7

The reason he won’t be featuring this year is because the coach is playing him out of position and the five eight doesn’t pass the ball, which is a major issue when you play on the same side of the field as him.

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

The $200 million he was talking about was the revenue Rugby Australia would
make from hosting the Lions in 2025 and the World Cup in 2027…then there’s another $200+ million if they go down the PE path.

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

He won the Dally M winger if the year award in his first full NRL season, in other words he was Judged by his peers to be the best player for his position in the competition.

So he has excelled at more than just schoolboy football

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

How many “average young players” have won the Dally M winger if the year award in their first season?

That’s not what Danny Weidler’s report says…it states that the Roosters are considering showing him the door, which implies it’s the Rooster’s decision not JS.

All employment contracts have termination clauses but they are usually for misbehaviour. So if they want to show him the door which termination clause could they use?

McLennan delivers salary cap sledge, claims Roosters' treatment of Suaalii is 'nothing short of horrible'

there are reports that the roosters want to terminate his contract early. I posted a link above.

JS isn’t asking for a release the Roosters are looking to cut him, if the reports are accurate

“they are paying a kid to play wing/centre who is yet to prove himself at this level”

He was a Dally M winger of the year last year, what else does he need to do to prove himself at this level?

The big call has backfired: Why Suaalii is failing at Roosters - and how Roosters are failing Sam Walker

Here you go and the key line in the article is…. “But Nine’s Danny Weidler reports some disappointing on-field form from the team in recent weeks has Chooks heavies considering showing Suaalii the door a year early.”

Tim Anstee and Ben O’Donnell as well

Agree but I’d say option 2 is what will happen

Nothing yet, but if the reports are to be believed they want to renege on a contract they signed with JS.

McLennan delivers salary cap sledge, claims Roosters' treatment of Suaalii is 'nothing short of horrible'

Sure my point being that JS is expecting to get paid $700k next year so I would think RA would offer him the same and he would be happy with that. It’s not RA’s fault that the Roosters want to shaft him mid contract.

McLennan delivers salary cap sledge, claims Roosters' treatment of Suaalii is 'nothing short of horrible'

“An early release would financially benefit Suaalii – he is on a reported $700,000 next season at the Roosters but is set to earn nearly double that in rugby.”

If he goes to rugby next year wouldn’t RA only have to pay him the value of his Roosters contract, $700k?

“also faces massively improved northern hemisphere teams”

That’s true other than Wales and England I would say but on the flip side he also got to face the All Blacks while they were in turmoil with Ian Foster as Head Coach creating all sorts of unwanted records and yet DR still finished with a 1 from 9 (11%) record against them.

Reds need someone to cut through the bulls--t: Cheika is the right choice at right time

Difference is that Rennie didn’t just coach against the All Blacks, he got to boost his numbers against minnows, like Italy for example…hang on I take that back

“ Geez, $250m for a 19.5% stake doesn’t really sound all that much keeping in mind that RA may keep only three-quarters of that amount!”

I read that to mean that RA would keep 75% in a fund of some sort to protect their future and distribute the other 25% across clubs, juniors etc in Australian rugby….which means that RA (and its key stake holders) are still getting the full amount not three quarters of it.

I could be wrong however.

If that was your original argument I would have agreed with you

'It's hard not to be excited': Three-way battle to sign Sevens star ahead of Olympics

“Yes, but OO’s comment was: “If the Brumbies have so much local talent, why poach from NSW?”

As I said he has come through the NSW system since the under 14’s (that I know of maybe longer) and is currently in the NSW system, so technically OO is correct, the Brumbies would be poaching him from NSW not QLD….but anyway who cares where he’s from it’s all about where he is going.
