Not sure where he was born but I do know that he has been playing for the Kempsey Cannonballs (Mid North Coast, NSW) since the under 14’s and then he went to boarding school in Sydney for a couple of years and went through NSW pathways to play rep footy.

'It's hard not to be excited': Three-way battle to sign Sevens star ahead of Olympics

Decent squad but feels a bit light in the centres. I guess we’re banking on Kerevi being fit and available later in the year

Not just NZ schools…Australian, Fijian, Tongan and just about any other Pacific Island you can name.

Hey Gus, put the shovel down and walk away from the hole.

Good pick up

Robinson’s stock has just risen in my eyes, about time a cool head prevailed.

'I don't want NRL to be feeder system': Gus fires back in Suaalii slanging match after Robbo blasts 'ridiculous comment'

I thought it was newsworthy as I was interested to know that this squad was a lot smaller and more players would miss out than the last squad…i reakon you’re being a bit sensitive about a pretty innocent comment.

Revealed: Test star suffers World Cup setback, Eddie set to name streamlined first Wallabies squad

What was the cheap shot? Describing a 44 man squad as bloated?

All hypothetical but yep I’d think RA would negotiate a separate deal for the next 18 months already knowing that he has just been paid out $1M by the Roosters/NRL and keen to play footy somewhere.

Would be a win for Rugby Union I would have thought.

Rugby News: Morgs whack for NRL 'fool', Gus meltdown over defection, how Tate reacted to brain snap

Why? The Roosters would have to pay him out if they terminated his contract wouldn’t they? And RA would get him for next to nothing for the next 18 months.

As has been said before, RA apparently have a benefactor paying for Suaalii, they aren’t using the PE funds for him

NRL News: Rugby boss hits back at 'cry babies' over Suaalii deal, Eels on hunt for new fullback, Matterson explains fine mess

Have a look at what’s just happened in NZ…the private equity firm (Silverlake) handed over the $200 million and NZ rugby then distributed a large chunk of it to the grass roots rugby clubs all over NZ.

NZ$7.5 million (US$4.89 million) of the funding is going to rugby clubs, NZ$2 million (US$1.3 million) into Māori Rugby, and a further NZ$20 million (US$13.05 million) into the provincial unions.

Silverlake didn’t instruct NZ rugby on how to spend it, it was completely up to NZ rugby who they supported and how much.

The same will happen with Rugby Australia, they will sell a portion of the business for a huge sum of cash and then use it how they see fit and kids/grass roots will definitely benefit financially from the PE deal.

Rugby Australia is currently negotiating a Private Equity deal like the one NZR have just signed with Silverlake for $200 million.

This is apparently going to happen within the next 6 months or so, which will mean Rugby Australia will have plenty of cash for the grass roots.

Rugby Australia also have big money spinners like the Lions tour, the men’s & women’s World Cup and the Sevens at a Home Olympics coming up so they are going to have plenty of $ to play with.

I think the benefactor has the right to invest
in the resources he feels will give the Wallabies an advantage from 2025 until the 2027 World Cup when the whole world will be watching.

So RA don’t need to chase other NRL talent now, they would have their number 1 target and thanks to this benefactor they can use all available cash to invest in the grass roots and existing talent.

My take anyway.

'What the hell just happened?': Suaalii's secret rugby session that floored everyone who saw it

As TWAS said, rumour is that there is a 3rd party benefactor funding this…so why wouldn’t RA accept this generous gift?

'What the hell just happened?': Suaalii's secret rugby session that floored everyone who saw it

As others have mentioned/reported there is a 3rd party benefactor funding the switch. If this is the case then RA would be fools not to accept the gift.

'They desperately need it': Ex-Wallaby pushes Suaalii chase, RA's big worry as NRL star's links to rugby firm up

Meh, I wouldn’t be devastated if he went O/S for a few years and learned a few more tricks before coming back a better player like Kellaway did.

Exclusive: RA move to shore up backline post World Cup by signing stars to new deals

I think his defence would be an issue at 12.

Exclusive: RA move to shore up backline post World Cup by signing stars to new deals

I think you misunderstood. There was 15,000 last week against the Hurricanes for super round (and it looked like a crowd of 15k)…no one has said there was 15,000 again this week

The comment I was responding to was which players COULD make it in RL…no one said anything about walking straight in to a team.

Seven NRL players Rugby Australia should poach

Stewart might have to go 5/8. Can defend, pass, kick and he runs hard and straight at 12 in rugby so that’s where I’d have him.

Seven NRL players Rugby Australia should poach

I’d go with, Michael Hooper, Rob Valentini, Pete Samu, Hamish Stewart, Hunter Paisami, Len Ikitau, Tate McDermott

Seven NRL players Rugby Australia should poach

I get that he’s lighter than the average winger but my question is why is he big enough to play for Australia but not for NSW? It seems bizarre he can be considered heavy enough to play NZ who have an enormous team yet not big enough to take on the smaller Queenslanders.

'To shut some people's mouths is pleasing': Addo-Carr grateful after triumphant return to rep arena with Kangaroos

Sure, I know who Steve Hansen is, I was simply responding to someone saying that NZ Rugby did not believe Australia did anything wrong in 2003 by asking why Hansen made those comments if that was the case.
In other words Is Hansen a compulsive liar, just stirring the pot or did he in fact know what happened in the negotiations given his close relationship with Steve Tew and other board members/execs

Is the relationship between Rugby Australia and New Zealand Rugby Union broken?
