Warner got a century and 80 odd against England in the ODI’s plus a 48 in Perth so his form is ok. There aren’t really any openers banging the door down in shield cricket at this point either. That said, Warner is probably close to retirement, the Ashes may be a last hurrah.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Travis full of confidence heading into Proteas series, Marnus' ton better than Perth centuries

Cummins & Hazlewood are two of the best bowlers in the world. If fit they WILL be in the team. Green provides plenty as the 4th quick and Lyon won’t be dropped.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Travis full of confidence heading into Proteas series, Marnus' ton better than Perth centuries

I know the list is players who started at the Cowboys. However, the biggest one that got away was SAM THAIDAY. He played junior rugby league for the Brothers club in Townsville as well as attending Kirwan State High School. I remember fans everywhere screaming for the cowboys to sign him as a 16 year old. Unfortunately he signed with the Broncos in 2002. The cowboys recruitment really dropped the ball by letting Sam get away.

The ones who got away: North Queensland Cowboys

I have to disagree this time Rob 😊 . Drinkwater has improved a lot at full back and is safer than HTF imho. Plus his creativity and involvement in attack and creating breaks is streets ahead. The final 20 is probably when HTF comes on but he needs to be a lot more involved in the middle trying to get offloads from the Cowboys forwards.

Prelim Finals Team Lists Late Mail: Opacic out, Mixed news for Bunnies, Panthers switch

The Cowboys fitness and enthusiasm has made a massive difference to their defense this year.

The week off, humidity and home crowd should see the Cowboys beat the Eels. If the Cowboys weather the first 10-15 it will stay close until about 60 minutes then open up.

'My drink bottle melted!': One myth and one reality that will boost Cowboys in their Grand Final bid

It’s being away and the humidity up there. They are 2 wins from their past 14 in Townsville. Play the game in Sydney and the eels are probably $1.60 favourites.

2022 NRL preliminary finals: Will we see a battle of the west for the top prize?

Someone on NRL360 (might have been Kent) said NZ deserved to be favorites which i thought was strange. Sportsbet have Aust at $1.40, NZ at $4.50 and Eng at $9.00. I agree the halves and the backs should get the job done.

NRL News: Everything is fine between BA and Brown, Haas World Cup withdrawal, motto behind Cowboys success

If it was the NRL judiciary she would have got a $1500 fine! 😡

NRL News: Everything is fine between BA and Brown, Haas World Cup withdrawal, motto behind Cowboys success

The Cowboys should win with the home ground advantage, the weather and their fitness. That would make 3 grand finals in the past 8 years. Only the storm have a better record in that time with 4 GFs. That said, no one will beat the Panthers either this weekend or in the GF with Cleary.

NRL News: Everything is fine between BA and Brown, Haas World Cup withdrawal, motto behind Cowboys success

Cowboys should win comfortably on Friday at home. The Eels are 2 from the past 14 in Townsville & it will be 26 degrees and 85% humidity when they play. The Eels Cowboys game in round 8 was a preview. I think it will be close for 60 minutes or so then the cowboys defense and fitness will win out later in the game. That said, I’ve been wrong in the past 😊

MICHAEL HAGAN: Attack wins premierships in six-again era so I'm tipping a Panthers vs Cowboys decider

Its simple really Jenny. The cowboys finished higher than the Eels plus they won in week 1 whereas the Eels lost heavily. Seems like the finals system is working well. It rewards your performance during the year plus in the finals.

Arthur lashes critics after Eels make statement in dismantling Green Machine to bury semi-final hoodoo

There weren’t a heap of head highs and sin bins in the other 3 games. 2 of the sin bins were soft but the others were warranted. Players know that head high shots will land you in the bin. Obviously both teams got carried away. I agree the match review and judiciary have contributed to this. We do have a certain storm prop who has been getting away with cheap shots all year as one example.

Rise in foul play a result of feather touch judiciary: Head slams can only be eradicated with lengthy bans

Canberra and Parra finished below the Cowboys so it’s fair enough. A semi in Sydney would essentially be a home game for Parra (assuming they win) . The current setup works well generally reqarding the higher placed teams unless you lose. It would be better if every team’s home ground was up to scratch to handle a major semi final but that won’t happen.

NRL finals week one talking points Round 25: Away teams win three out of four

Totally agree, that was a really bad KO. Saying you feel ok shouldn’t be enough these days. The NRL knows head trauma will become a massive economic liability for them down the track and need to do something now.

Week 2 Finals Teams Late Mail: Sharks star out, Chee Kam in for Burgess, Moses to play, Raiders make a change

No surprise Mike is riding the cowboys again, has Ben happening all year an not really a surprise as they were spoon favourites. I posted last week that the winner of this game would have a great run to the GF. That has improved further with storm losing. The raiders play the eels and honestly Moses shouldn’t be allowed to play after that KO. Either way, cowboys in a warm NQ stadium will be favourites to beat either the Eels or Raiders. Still plenty of things to work on but their defence and fitness late in the game will show through. Most of these players had never played semi and with origin experience they will improve. Panthers will win the comp.

Finals Five: Cowboys win, but the real winner might be the other five teams

Obviously the clear favorite is the Panthers. I would have put the Roosters second but they are a bit banged up and the eels, rabbits and storm are pretty hot and cold. Whoever wins out of the Sharks & Cowboys will get a week off then a home game (probably against Eels of Storm) to make the GF. Sharks may have to play at a bigger stadium in week 3?

NRL finals fixtures: Semi-final, prelim final match-ups - who plays who and when in playoffs

You don’t have to move aside but you can’t run into someones path which is what the tigers center did. NRL360 showed a really good frame by frame photo. He heads directly infield from the sideline before turning. The only reason you would do this is to put yourself in the way of the cowboys best jumper.

So for us neutrals, who is the most bearable NRL premiership winner?

I think most would probably put the Storm down with the Roosters and Panthers. Good otherwise 👍

So for us neutrals, who is the most bearable NRL premiership winner?

1) any team celebrates like its the GF if the win in the last second. 2) The Tigers center ran a decoy heading straight infield to block Feldt. Feldt 100% did take a dive but that happens in almost every game. If the Tigers play didn’t try a pointless obstruction they would have won the game, simple.

So for us neutrals, who is the most bearable NRL premiership winner?

Really sad news 😔 . Aside from coaching the Cowboys to their first premiership he also coached them to the inaugural 9’s title. Vale Paul Green.

'We cannot find the words': Tributes flow for former star player, premiership-winning coach Paul Green

I think Roosters, Rabbits or Eels will finish 4th. They would meet Penrith in round 1 but then avoid them until a GF (if they go that far) which isn’t a bad outcome.

NRL Power Rankings: Roosters, Rabbits continue rise, Knights actually win a game of rugby league football

The cowboys fitness is as good as anyone’s and it shows in their defense and second half performances. Jordan Maclean should be back this week on the bench with Granville to miss out imho. Cotter is an 80 minute player and should start with Luciano providing impact off the bench. The roosters will be a good test and deserve to be slight favorites at home.

Any sort of legal challenge was never going to succeed. It would only cost both sides money. Even if successful it would not achieve anything except maybe avoid a wooden spoon.

'We know it, everyone knows it': Tigers drop legal threat over bunker blunder but deliver backhander to NRL

Cowboys fan here but i think the Sharks should be in position 2 in the power rankings. They have good form and a draw which will probably see them finish in second.

NRL Power Rankings: Cowboys up, Broncos down and Ricky's Raiders in with a chance

I was going through some of the old power rankings out of interest. Back in mid April Mike said “It’s not sustainable for Jeremiah Nanai to score every game, and for young players to be this good for long stretches, which will be a worry.” Mike was right, Nanais form has dropped and he is now down to 17 tries in 20 games.

I’m a cowboys supporter but I’ll admit i wasn’t expecting a great year either with with Derden and Townsend in the halves. Some gun youngsters have really stepped up and with an almost certain top 4 spot locked up who knows? Go the Cows!
