Australia and Cuba will both put their entire Premier 12 tournaments on the line today when they clash on the second day of action. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 2pm (AEDT).

Both Australia and Cuba had rough starts to the tournament and as a result, need to win today if they are to keep respective hopes of going to the s round alive.

Their respective losses to South Korea and Canada have left them scrambling for a way through to the super round, but the first objective will need to be getting a run on the board.

It was a task that both sides failed at yesterday, with Cuba falling 3-0 in something of a surprise result, while Australia fell 5-0 in a game where they were dominated, and the scoreboard didn’t show the true nature of the contest.

The Aussies will know there is plenty of room for improvement though. Some of their pitching was way off, at one point, walking a home run for the home side, while they simply couldn’t land bat on ball for much of the contest.

The Cuban pitching arsenal is hardly on the level of South Korea’s though, and this is a match which should suit the Aussies in a much bigger way than their first challenge.

Cuba will also know they have improvement in them, but will be shocked by yesterday’s result.

The nature of yesterday’s games makes the first couple of innings in this one critical, with both sides down on momentum and confidence. Whoever gets that early boost could run away with the contest.

Prediction
Australia were never expected to win last night, but this is a match-up which suits them a lot better. The pitching won’t be as good as they faced last night, and as long as they cut out the silly mistakes in their own pitching game and make the most of opportunities as they present themselves, they should keep themselves alive.

Australia 5 – Cuba 2.
