LeBron James has recently been playing some of his best basketball that we’ve seen in his career.
This season James has been displaying exceptional numbers as he is averaging 28 points, seven assists and over seven rebounds per game.
This is great but the most recent month has been outstanding. He has scored 30-plus points in seven straight games, which is tied at second for the longest streak in this category during his 19-year career.
In his most recent performance, he continued his brilliance as he led the Lakers to a blow-out win against the Trailblazers as he scored a 43-point double double.
Him putting up these numbers alone is insane but also doing this as a 37-year-old in his 19th year in the NBA is out of this world.
James may not be as athletic as he was when looking back to his prime, however he seems to have the same mentality and intensity at the moment.
‘King James’ is currently averaging more points so far throughout this regular season than the 2012-13 championship year.

This is just one factor but when you look at it from a success standpoint you see that he was a lot more efficient in that season as he had a 57 per cent field goal percentage, compared to 53 per cent now.
But if we investigate this season versus his career overall, his efficiency is unbelievably higher as his field-goal percentage and three-point percentage is higher when comparing the 2021-22 season to his whole career.
Of course, he was more dynamic and entertaining a few years back, however he is still certainly a present top-five player in the NBA.
Despite these outstanding performances, it has not led the Lakers to much success as they are currently sitting one game under 500 (18-19).
It’s incredible to know that they are not at least a top-three team in the west with all these former and current All Stars.
This team is superb on paper as their roster contain the likes of Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Anthony Davis (currently out due to health and safety protocols) and of course ‘The King’ himself.
They also have great role players like Horton Tucker and Malik Monk. I seriously can’t figure out how this team is only seventh in the west right now.
You could argue the problem is that they don’t stay consistent in most of their games as they have quarters when they are playing championship-style offence and defence but then the next quarter they could score under 20 points.
James has been doing so much for this team but even though he has scored 30-plus in his last seven matches, Los Angeles have lost five of them.
In conclusion, we are certainly seeing moments that force us to think of the young prime James and he is making a good run for MVP.
