'Completely illegal': Controversy as fighter uses inhaler between rounds at UFC Boston

A bizarre controversy erupted during former NFL player Greg Hardy’s win over Australian-NZ debutant Ben Sosoli at UFC Boston.

At the end of the second round, ESPN commentators including former UFC champion Daniel Cormier were stunned to learn Hardy had been allowed to use an inhaler.

“That’s absolutely insane,” Cormier said.

“What is going on?”

Speaking to the ESPN broadcast, UFC executive Marc Ratner reiterated that using an inhaler was “completely illegal”.

The fight carried on with Hardy eventually named the winner by unanimous decision.

However, the bout was later ruled a no-contest due to Hardy’s use of the inhaler.
