After both teams secured convincing wins in their opening games, the Adelaide Strikers will go head-to-head with the red-hot Melbourne Renegades on Sunday 23rd December at the Adelaide Oval.

Stay tuned to The Roar for live scores and ball-by-ball commentary of this blockbuster T20 game, starting at 7:15pm AEDT.

Current champions of last season’s Big Bash, the Strikers have had a comfortable start to their campaign, securing an easy five-wicket victory over the Brisbane Heat in the opening round of the competition.

Opening batsman Alex Carey provided the main foundation of the Strikers’ run chase, his blitzkrieg knock of 70 featuring 5 fours and 4 sixes allowing to get his side home at a canter despite an earlier fall of wickets at beginning of their innings.

The Strikers’ superstar Afghan spinner Rashid Khan was phenomenal with the ball, snaring 3 for 19 with his leg-spinners that effectively ensured the Heat wouldn’t break the 150 mark in their final total.

No doubt these two are key players for the Strikers who can really change the course of the game very quickly, and the Renegades should be wary of nullifying their impact as much as possible.

The Renegades were semi-finalists last season, and will be looking to go one better this time.

They too have had a confidence boosting start to their Big Bash campaign, easing to a four-wicket win against the Perth Scorchers, a remarkable effort considering the Scorchers are four-time winners of the Big Bash.

A collective bowling effort ensured the Scorchers were restricted to below-par 106, which the Renegades knocked off with over 3 overs to spare.

All-rounder Dan Christian, South Australia quick Kane Richardson and Usman Shinwari are the main three to watch out for, who were quite miserly in their bowling spells.

The Renegades’ batting has not yet been truly tested, but keep an eye out for young Sam Harper and veteran Cameron White, who are capable of launching a six-hitting assault should the chance arise.

The last five matches between those two sides show that the Strikers clearly have the wood over the Renegades, but the Renegades have already shown against the Scorchers that history doesn’t matter.

Prediction
A difficult one given how confident both teams are, but expect the Renegades to carry on the momentum from their win against the Scorchers and buck their current trend against the Strikers in this clash.
