Perth come to Adelaide with great confidence following a great contest against the Renegades two nights ago. On the back of great batting from Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Bancroft, the Scorchers posted a high total that Melbourne could not chase down despite great performances from Shaun Marsh and Beau Webster.
Adelaide, meanwhile, managed to get a point from their clash against the Sydney Thunder due to their match in Canberra being cancelled due to poor smoke conditions as a result of the bushfires.
Although the Strikers managed to complete their innings, the Thunder had already mustered 40 runs with the loss of just one wicket, meaning the hosts would have prevailed had at least five overs been bowled.
However, the Strikers did post a competitive total of over 160 runs, so a draw probably is a fair result.
Adelaide will be hoping for a better start against the Scorchers, given they lost two very early wickets before recovering nicely courtesy of good batting from Jake Weatherald, Alex Carey and Jonathon Wells – who made an unbeaten half-century.
These three batsman may have to score high totals again, given the ominous form of Perth batsmen such as Marsh, in particular, who hit half a dozen sixes en route to his 56 not out.
Prediction
Tonight’s contest should go down to the wire. The Scorchers showed plenty of promise with the bat, but things could be more challenging in Adelaide given the short turnaround. While Perth were impressive at home, Adelaide on their turf should produce enough quality to get home.
