Afghanistan desperately need a win to keep their T20 World Cup semi-final chances alive, but an in-form Namibia will be no pushover. Join The Roar for live scores from 9pm (AEDT).

With so much competition for the second Group B semi-final spot alongside the undefeated Pakistan, Afghanistan likely can’t afford another group stage loss to make it to the final four. While they were far from disgraced in a narrow loss to the men in green, the four sixes hit by Asif Ali from the 19th over, bowled by Karim Janat, will be of some concern.

Spin twins Mujeeb ur Rahman and Rashid Khan were far too good for Scotland in their opening match rout, claiming nine wickets between them; against another Associate nation, will they fare quite so spectacularly?

Namibia, the heavy underdogs and everyone’s second-favourite team this tournament, have also beaten Scotland for their first at a World Cup. It was a victory set up by an outstanding three-wicket opening over from quick Ruben Trumpelmann, who once again looms as a key to victory that Afghanistan will have to negotiate.

As good as the Namibians have been this tournament, Afghanistan should be too strong here. With the exception of former South African international David Wiese and perhaps captain Gerhard Erasmus, few if any of their other batsmen will have faced bowlers of the quality of Mujeeb and Rashid, and we saw what devastating effect that can have against Scotland.
