Pink ball cricket returns to Adelaide as Pakistan continue searching for first win in Australia this summer. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage of Day 1 from 2:30pm (AEDT).

Three T20 matches and a Test have brought Pakistan nothing but losses and a rain-hit draw in Sydney, with the tourists falling by an innings in Brisbane during the first Test of this two-match series.

The Australians, back at full strength, will, for the first time in ages, be able to play the same XI for back-to-back Tests in this one, with Justin Langer confirming the XI yesterday.

And there was little need for change, given the form of the batsmen, with David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne going past a century, and Joe Burns scoring 97.

The middle order weren’t challenged, but the bowlers were also outstanding, with Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon all pulling their weight.

They now move into what should be even more favourable conditions, although, a day-night Test presents its own challenges in that, bowling in the dusk and night periods provides and enormous advantage.

Pakistan, on the other hand, looked good in patches, but ordinary in others. Their opening partnership between Shan Masood and Azhar Ali on the opening morning of the Test had them ticking along nicely, but they soon lost four wickets for nothing and crumbled to a well below par.

Likewise, their bowling was good in patches, but very inconsistent, with the non-selection of Mohammad Abbas being a particularly strange one.

He is likely to come back in for either Imran Khan or Naseem Shah ahead of the second Test, while Haris Sohail is also expected to be replaced by Imam-ul-Haq at three.

They must be more consistent in both facets of the game if they want to challenge Australia, although like the hosts, these conditions should suit their bowling attack more than Brisbane.

The big question will be their batting though, which was susceptible in both innings at the Gabba, and isn’t likely to improve in Adelaide. The bottom line is that if Pakistan don’t score enough runs, Australia won’t be troubled, particularly considering Steve Smith is due for a score.
