Australia have earned a narrow first innings lead in the fifth and final Ashes Test against England at the Oval, but will now need to confront a Bazball-inspired home batting line-up to keep their hopes of winning the series outright alive. Join The Roar for live scores from 8pm (AEST).

A half-century from Steve Smith and a vital late cameo from Todd Murphy has seen Australia to a first-innings 295 and a lead of 12: but England proved at Old Trafford they can take a game away from the visitors in a session, and will be keen to do so again after lasting just over 50 overs on Day 1.

If Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins can lead the way with the new ball and create early chances, a manageable fourth-innings chase should be on the cards; if not, the Aussies could easily be in for another tough day at the office.
