Just 40 overs were possible on Day 4 as rain descended on The Oval, but things could hardly have gone better for Australia.

After wrapping up England’s innings for 395 in just 11 balls to set up a run chase of 384, Usman Khawaja and David Warner batted superbly in an unbroken 135-run stand that has shaved the required runs down to just 249.

With conditions expected to be better for Day 5, the Aussies are now almost an even-money chance of securing a coveted series win over England in England for the first time since 2001; but will the retiring Stuart Broad have one final say to swing the match the hosts’ way?
