The Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes clash at Optus Stadium as both teams go in search of their third win of BBL|09. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 9:40pm (AEDT).
After a comprehensive defeat at home to Brisbane, things don’t get any easier for the Hurricanes as they make the trip to Perth to take on the Scorchers.
The Scorchers are well rested following a dominant win over the Heat a few days ago and will fancy their chances of going back-to-back against Hobart.
Perth on their day possess one of the most aggressive batting line-ups in the BBL. Josh Inglis, Liam Livingstone, Cameron Bancroft and Mitchell Marsh can each hit hard and clear the rope if they get off to a good start.
The Hurricanes themselves are coming off straight losses, including a heavy defeat to a Heat side that pummelled the Hurricanes bowling attack.
If Hobart fail to tighten their game up, Marsh, Inglis and company will see this as an opportunity to go after the bowling attack.
As for the Hurricanes, the loss of James Faulkner to injury is a big blow so plenty of pressure falls on their other bowlers to limit the Scorchers total.
If the bowling attack fails, batsmen Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott and D’Arcy Short will once again face an ominous task of chasing a formidable total in enemy territory.
Prediction
Hobart did well with the bat against Brisbane, posting 180+ chasing a big score, so they have what it takes to hurt the Perth attack. This match, though, really hinges on how effectively the Hurricanes attack can limit the damage from Perth. At home, the Scorchers should get the job done.
Scorchers to win.
