Kiwi commentator rightly gets stitched up after confusing his mic with his coffee

In the past, if you made a mistake in the commentary box that wasn’t picked up by the microphone, you’d likely have got away with it. How times have changed.

Former Black Caps Test opener Mark Richardson was settling in to start New Zealand’s second ODI of their home series against Bangladesh when he had a rather awkward moment in which he appeared to confuse his microphone with his coffee.

And of course, his colleagues didn’t let him get away with it, with even fellow commentator Simon Doull posting the moment to Twitter.

While Richardson didn’t have the best of starts, the Black Caps certainly did as after a rain-interrupted beginning, the Kiwis would bowl the Tigers out for just 226.
