The Cronulla Sharks are out to avenge last year’s elimination final loss to the Canberra Raiders as the sides close out Round 2. Stay up to date with their NRL clash with live scores on The Roar from 6:15pm (AEDT).
The Sharks got the job done against their arch rivals to start their season off on a high, knocking off the Dragons 32-18. It was a slick performance given the awful conditions and, although they weren’t perfect defensively, they’ll take a lot of heart from their performance with the ball in hand – although a much sterner test awaits tonight.
Canberra had little trouble brushing the lowly Wests Tigers away last week, but they will also come into this clash more wary of a superior opponent with more to play for. It was a second-half blitz that did most of the damage for the Raiders last week, but they’ll need to get on the board sooner against the high-scoring Sharks tonight.
The Raiders got the job done in last year’s elimination final, but the underdog Sharks were far from disgraced by their performance and will believe they’re a huge chance here. Cronulla have struggled against Canberra in recent times, losing the last four meetings in a row.
