In a match that looms as season-ending for the loser, the Cronulla Sharks battle the Newcastle Knights in a vital finish to Round 21. Tune in to the action in this second match of the day from Redcliffe with live scores on The Roar from 4pm (AEST).
It was a mixed bag for these two sides last week, with the Knights holding off a spirited charge from the Broncos, while the Sharks went down to the Warriors in a spiteful match.
Front and centre for Cronulla was Will Chambers, whose antics saw three Warriors cop suspensions. In a statement move by caretaker Josh Hannay, he has been demoted to the reserves for this match, with Siosifa Talakai shuffling into the centres to cover.
Safely in the eight just a fortnight ago, consecutive losses have seen the Sharks tumble to tenth on the ladder, with a final-round clash with the Storm beginning to loom large. A win here, though, could see them jump back into the eight, depending on results earlier in the round.
As for the Knights, given their disastrous points-differential position, nothing short of a win will suffice in this one. Jayden Brailey has been recalled, while Hymel Hunt and Bradman Best remain in doubt with concussion and a shoulder injury respectively.
