Show Preview
It’s a battle between two cellar-dwellers when the Gold Coast Titans host the St George Illawarra Dragons in Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores from 3pm (AEST).
Even if the Dragons had lived up to their fans’ pre-season expectations, this wouldn’t exactly have been a fixture to pencil into your diaries well in advance. And with St George playing like they have been, there’s even less anticipation around this one.
Paul McGregor’s men did at least end their winless start to the year last week, becoming the last team to get off the season duck in the process. That victory will ease some of the pressure on their coach, but lose to the Titans today and the knives will be out once again.
The Titans certainly haven’t had to worry about any expectations, and the pre-season forecasts that had them down the bottom of the ladder have been bang on the mark so far.
They have received a boost in the form of mid-week signing Corey Thompson, with the ex-Tiger to start at fullback today. Dale Copley’s ankle injury has forced him out of the side.
For the Dragons, James Graham is expected to play this week, although the English forward has requested a release to return home to the Super League as his playing time decreases.
Kick-off: 3pm (AEST)
Venue: Suncorp Stadium
TV: Fox Sports
Live stream: Kayo Sports, Foxtel, NRL Live
