Parramatta emphatically silenced their doubters last week with a rousing 35-10 demolition of Canberra after being plagued by negativity following the previous week’s upset loss to the Dragons. At 5-1 and with strong defence again at their core, the Eels have been playing a lot better than the media around them suggests and will look to further their claims as premiership threat this evening.
Brisbane won themselves plenty of admirers in a gallant 20-12 loss to Penrith last week that many feared would be a demolition for the ages. As encouraging as it was, the Broncos have still lost three in a row (two of them being absolute beltings) and are nowhere near the level of football that will challenge for finals or satisfy their fans.
The Eels had to overcome an early 18-0 deficit to get the points when these sides clashed in Round 1, but it was Parra’s fourth win in a row over Brisbane an their seventh from the last nine meetings. The Eels have won five of the six ‘home’ games they’ve played in Darwin, while the Broncos are making their first ever trip to the top end’s capital.
