The NRL’s round 25 continues this afternoon, as the St George Illawarra Dragons host the Brisbane Broncos at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 5:30pm AEST.

There’s no tomorrow for the Broncos unless they win this, and preferably win it well, against the out of contention Dragons. Sure, the Raiders could implode and lose by 50 at Leichhardt tomorrow afternoon, but that seems unlikely. The Broncos simply have to win.

Their opponents, St. George Illawarra, deservedly start as underdogs. They were soundly beaten by Brisbane back in round 17 and their only wins since then have come against the terrible Titans, the even worse Wests Tigers and a Manly team who were about to unravel due to a slightly different coloured jersey.

The Dragons are a poor team who’re missing players through injury and suspension and needed a large slice of luck to scrape past the last-placed Tigers on Sunday. They should be easy prey for the talented Broncos.

But what is going on with these Broncos? They’ve lost four of their last five, with their two most recent outings seeing them beaten by an aggregate score of 113-18 by Melbourne and Parramatta. The wheels have fallen off, there are rumblings of internal disharmony and it’s hard to confidently predict the Broncos being able to fix what ails them.

They do, however, have some very welcome reinforcements, with forward leader Patrick Carrigan returning from suspension, Adam Reynolds right to go after missing most of last weekend’s game due to a head knock and Selwyn Cobbo back from a rest.

The Dragons have named an unchanged side to that which beat Wests last weekend, with Andrew McCullough a chance of returning for what could be his final NRL game.
