Two last-start losers face off in Wollongong, as the St George Illawarra Dragons host the Canberra Raiders. Join The Roar for live scores from 3pm (AEST).
The Dragons will be playing for pride, and to impress future-coach Anthony Griffin, when they welcome the Raiders to WIN Stadium.
That pride was dented in Townsville, as Dean Young’s charges handed the Cowboys their first win in 10 starts. The Dragons played all three Queensland teams back-to-back, finishing a disappointing 1-2, with the win a narrow one over the Broncos.
The Raiders may also have had their pride dented last time out, going down 18-6 in a high-quality match-up with the Roosters. While the final score was fairly comprehensive, Canberra will feel they weren’t a long way off the tri-colours’ pace.
However, the lack of points against a quality defensive line may concern Ricky Stuart. Only Parramatta have scored fewer points than Canberra of teams currently inside the top eight.
Only one of these teams is bound for the finals though, and for very good reason. Canberra should be winning this one fairly comfortably.
