Show Preview

Benji Marshall is set to play his 300th match as the Wests Tigers return to the scene of their Easter Monday horror show, set to take on the Parramatta Eels. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 4:05pm (AEST).

Ten weeks ago, when these sides clashed at the opening of Bankwest Stadium, the Eels came away with a blowout 51-6 victory, not ever letting the Tigers into the game.

It was a massacre of epic proportions, and now, the Tigers host the Eels at the same venue, with plenty riding on the result.

As it stands, the Eels sit in seventh spot on the competition ladder, just a handful of spots ahead of the Tigers, who are just two points out of the top eight.

It’s an absolutely vital two points on the line, and while the Eels come into the game on the back of a bye, they had a pair of victories beforehand.

With Clint Gutherson and Mitchell Moses both playing high-quality footy on the back of a forward pack who are really rolling through the middle third, they are a hard team to stop on their day.

But there is more than just footy on the line for the Tigers today as they celebrate club legend Benji Marshall’s 300th game.

It’s been a long road to the milestone for the veteran, but he has been one of the best for the Tigers in recent weeks, and the combination he has been able to build with Luke Brooks has been impressive.

Ivan Cleary’s side have won two of their last three, but fell to the Roosters last week in a game they needed to win against an understrength outfit.

On paper, their forwards will really have to aim up if they want to stop the blue and gold, and that could well be where the game is won and lost.

Prediction
The Eels will cement their spot in the top eight at the end of Round 17, running past the Tigers to ruin Benji’s big day.

Eels by 6.
