The only Friday Night game of round 16 will see the 10th-placed Wests Tigers host the Sydney Roosters in thir place at Bankwest Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:55pm (AEST).

The Tigers are coming off an important win against the Rabbitohs last week courtesy of a late solo try by bench star Michael Chee-Kam.

With victories against higher-ranked opposition very important at this stage of the season, the Tigers will look to keep their momentum going with a victory over the Origin-ravaged premiership favourites.

The Roosters will be without some of their best players, including skipper Boyd Cordner and fullback James Tedesco due to NSW Origin commitments. Coach Trent Robinson has also chosen to rest Tongan front-rower Siosiua Taukeiaho.

However, it’s not all bad news for the Tri Colours, who welcome back five-eighth Luke Keary from a 6-week layoff due to a concussion, while Jared Waerea-Hargreaves also returns after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Ryan Hall comes back into the side too for Matt Ikavalu who has been moved to the bench, while New Zealand international Joseph Manu will shift to fullback to cover for Tedesco.

The Tigers, in contrast, are missing just one player due to Origin – captain Moses Mbye. His absence will be covered by Paul Momirovski who will get just his third start for the year.

Prediction
The Roosters will rightly go into this one as favourites. Whilst they are without some star power, they have been by and large getting the job done at less than full strength all season. The fact that they have big ins to counter the outs is a huge boost to their cause.

However, the Tigers will be far from easy beats in this game. Their position on the ladder gives them plenty to play for, and they have the big-match experience in Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah to not be overawed by the occasion.

I like the Tigers in a tight one. Coach Michael McGuire will have them up for this – it’s a huge opportunity to get 2 competition points against depleted opposition.

Tigers by 2.
