Retiring Cooper Cronk's incredibly modest take on his role in the 'big three'

Cooper Cronk has announced that the 2019 NRL season will be his last, bringing an end to a career that began in 2004.

The champion playmaker, who has won three premierships in his time with the Sydney Roosters and the Melbourne Storm thus far will finish as one of the game’s most decorated players.

Cronk formed a crucial part of the Storm’s “big three”, alongside retired full back Billy Slater and current captain Cameron Smith.

However true to form, Cronk downplayed his role in the iconic trio’s success, which extended to their time playing for Queensland and Australia.

Cronk will finish as the game’s second most-capped player, having surpassed Brisbane Broncos great Darren Lockyer earlier this year.
