In a virtual dead rubber final round Super Rugby contest, the Hurricaes will look to put the last touches on their preparation for the finals as they take on the struggling Blues. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:35pm (AEST).
Unsurprisingly, the Hurricanes have made plenty of changes for their final match of the regular season as they look to give star players a week off before we head into the finals next week.
They have locked up home ground advantage for the first week, but will likely find themselves up against the Bulls or Lions, before taking on the Crusaders in the second week, so it’ll be anything but an easy path to the cup.
The Hurricanes have won seven of their last eight, including two out of their last three on a successful tour of South Africa, and appear primed and ready for the finals.
The Blues, on the other hand, come into this game stone last in the New Zealand conference, which, when you look at the five teams on paper, is hardly a surprise.
The Blues have been at the wrong end of the New Zealand conference for some years now, and while they wouldn’t be going too bad comparatively if they were in a different conference, they are just outside the top eight and have no chance of sneaking in there tonight, even if they were to come away with a bonus point win.
They have won two our of their last four, but rather frustratingly, fell by a point to the Reds away from home last weekend.
Prediction
The Hurricanes are at home and making their final preparation for the finals. They should romp it in here, even without many of their rested starts.
Hurricanes by 15.
