The Melbourne Rebels and Highlanders meet in Melbourne for the final regular season match of Super Rugby 2022. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:00pm (AEST).

The Highlanders sent a full-strength team to Melbourne not knowing whether they’d definitely need to win or not after what happened in Perth last night.

Jermaine Ainsley, Andrew Makalio, Ethan de Groot, Bryn Evans, Marino Mikaele-Tu’u, Marty Banks, Thomas Umaga-Jensen, Fetuli Paea and Liam Coombes-Fabling were named to start today.

They’ll need that firepower as the Force did indeed heap the pressure on with a thrilling 27-22 win over the Hurricanes at home. That means a Highlanders loss – without a bonus point – would see the Force through.

Can foe become friend? Can the Rebels help their Aussie rivals out with an unlikely victory that would see Tim Sampson’s men sneak into the final playoffs spot in place of the Landers?
