The Wallabies‘ Rugby World Cup campaign moves to Saint-Etienne for their second pool game against Fiji on Monday morning. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 1:45am (AEST).

These sides come into this important Pool C clash with different results after their opening games. The Wallabies did enough to keep Georgia at bay, while the Fijians will be disappointed with their defeat to Wales in a game they should have won.

The way the Fijians lost, though, should have the Wallabies very wary of a backlash, and they will know this won’t be an easy game. With the Drua in Super Rugby, much of the Wallabies’ team know the style of game that is coming their way, and they will need to lift a gear or two to claim a victory that will go a long way to securing a quarter-final berth.

The downside for the Wallabies for this game is the injuries that have started to mount with Taniela Tupou out with a hamstring injury and captain Will Skelton a late scratching with a calf injury. This comes after concussion protocols ruled out Tate McDermott and is an unwanted distraction, with these blows occurring in key positions and affecting the on-field leadership group.

The Wallabies will need to stick to their structured play and avoid the chaotic style of play the Fijians thrive on, as they showed against Wales last week. The selection of Nic White points to this, and his experience will also prove crucial with Skelton ruled out.

For the Fijians, Semi Radradra’s explosive running is one of his strengths and has been picked on the wing and will be looking to make up for last week. His battle with Mark Nawaqanitawase, who has also been in good form recently, is one of the match-ups to look out for.

Prediction

Wallabies by 8 points.
