Australia’s Wallaroos kick off their Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign against host nation New Zealand on the opening day of the tournament at Eden Park. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 5:15pm (AEST).

The Australians have never beaten the Kiwis in 22 attempts and will face a tough game against the tournament’s second favourites behind England.

The Black Ferns will be buoyed by a record crowd for a women’s rugby international – around 40,000 fans are expected – as they launch their bid for a sixth World Cup title.

Australia have never won the competition, with their best result a third placing behind champions the Black Ferns and beaten finalist England in 2010.

The teams have played twice at World Cups; a 36-3 result in 2002 and a 32-5 Black Ferns win in 2010. The teams have met three times in 2022 so far, with matches already in Tauranga, Christchurch and Adelaide.

The Black Ferns have won 32 of 34 home Tests, including all eight at Eden Park.
