The nation will stop like at no time since Cathy Freeman’s run in the 2000 Olympics tonight as the Matildas get set to take on England for a spot in the final of the Women’s World Cup. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8pm (AEST).

From Western Sydney to the world, it’ll be watched by a record number of Australians and tens of millions around the globe, with live sites packed and sofas filled.

Naturally, we’ll be here to bring you every minute of it – and there might be a lot of minutes, especially if we go to penalties again – with our live blog starting around 7.30pm and kick off at 8pm.

It’s a meeting of minds on the bench, between quirky Swedish manager Tony Gustavsson, who leads Australia, and ice cool Dutch coach Sarina Wiegman, who is looking to add world glory to the European title that England picked up last year on home soil.

The Lionesses are slight favourites, having only lost once under Wiegman…but that was to the Tillies in a friendly before the tournament. It’s incredibly well balance, and will surely be extremely tense.
