The State of Origin Decider 2011: our chance to knock those cocky Maroons off their perch. Join us tonight for live scores and blog of all the action as Gallen’s gallent Blues take on Queensland at their home. Join us from 7:30pm (AEST) for all the Origin action with a NSW Blues call of the game..
You’ve joined the NSW Blues blog. Go NSW! Looking for the Queensland live blog? Go and join the Queenslanders here.
Our boys showed plenty of heart in game one but really stepped up for game two to rock the Queensland side.
The fast and furious pace we showed allowed us to put on two tries in the second-half of game two to seal the game and the pressure stunted Queensland, forcing them into mistakes.
While we’ve lost Will Hopoate, we’ll have Michael Jennings or Jarryd Hayne to replace him in the centres, while big Keith Galloway steps in for Trent Merrin who is back at club footy to give the forwards a boost.
Coach Ricky Stuart has done all he can to take the focus off his players and place it onto his shoulders, revving up the Queensland mob with some great banter and keeping his final team unannounced.
All normal Origin fare… except Mal Meninga has taken it to heart!
He says he’s broken up with old Raiders team-mate Stuart, after Ricky’s jibes were too much.
Well Mal, go and blow your nose with $100 notes. After all, it was reported this week you’ll get $800k a year to do whatever it is you do when your team is chock full of champions.
History isn’t with us, but that’s never stopped us before. Five times in 29 years have either side won the decider away from home; we did it in 1994 and 2005, and we’ll do it again.
Go get ‘em boys. Let’s spoil Lockyer’s farewell.
Betting: Queensland at $1.57, NSW at (generous?) $2.40.
At least the Queenslanders are good for something – the XXXX Angels!

Overall, dodgy decisions by the ref for both teams and some great individual performances from both QLD and NSW players made this a thoroughly great game to watch!! A fitting farewell for Locky!! Now onto next year’s battle!!

SIX IN A ROW!
I will give you this though, your NSW tears are very refreshing. Victory IS sweet!
Will be interesting to see how NSW fair in the post-Locky era. Will it change things? We’ll find out in 2012!

LOL – I noticed that as well – when they posed for the group pic with the shield, I thought Thaiday was signalling that Queensland had won 8 in a row and Slater was signalling they had won 7 – either that or it was some street gang gesture specific to Brisbane!

Anyway, well played Queensland. Blues players… Don’t look at me… I’m not talking to you…

The three fingers on each hands was I think how it started, and then maybe they started sharing Thurston’s opiate and got a little mixed up!?
Originally though, three fingers on each hand was what they were going for. Though it did make them look like a Crip gang.
What can I say, its hard keeping count when you’ve won SO many straight Origin series’.

Won in the first 30, NSW couldn’t find any rhythm in the first half and then their combinations didn’t perform. Gidley, watmough, Stewart and Gallen were tough, but they didn’t link to their backline often enough to dominate the match.

Pity about Jamie Soward missing that conversion. This puts the Blues three scores behind, at least. It all depends now on whether the Blues have the energy to start running the Maroons big men off their feet. Until the last 5 minutes or so, I thought the Maroons were very, very effective. Their backs, especially the halves looked to be too good for their opponents. What is Mitchell Pearce doing in this match? Time for him to lift.

Simple move, Myles ran to get – inside ball to Slater (he is the big danger) and out to Thaiday. Blues had to break – too much possession without relief

Queensland attacking again, Lockyer puts in a grubber and Morris bats it dead. Yet another drop-out. Still just one try, c’mon Blues. QLD are really on top at the moment. Soward getting plenty of kicking practice…

Concerned about Beau Scott being out – he’s been the enforcer all series.
By the way – Archer and Hayne have each reffed 10 origin games – each have a record of 8 wins to QLD and 2 to NSW.
Is someone trying to guarantee a fairytale finish for Lockyer ?

get the ball to hayne & gasnier as much as possible? Are you serious charles? Gasnier is a shadow of his former self & seriously shouldnt even be in the origin side & hayne is use to playing at fullback & time & time again sterlo, fatty, geyer, gould etc have said hayne needs to get were the ball is when he’s with parramatta & he plays full back for them so he realy can go to where ever the ball is but he dosent & at centre he’s pretty much restricted & he didnt do a whole lot in game 2, hopoate proved himself & should b in the side for hayne or gasnier & idris should b in for the other 1

Qld don’t have their usual swagger and/or a bit complacent. They got an early penalty in Game 2 and instead of going for the jugular they took the 2. This would’ve undoubtedly given the NSW defence some confidence, knowing that Qld obviously weren’t confident enough to go for the throat early (ala the previous 5 years). If Qld continue to be relatively timid in attack compared to previous years and if NSW have that belief and take the game to the Qlder’s, they are in with a definite shot – despite being at Suncorp for Lockyer’s last Origin.
Hopefully it will be close, with a victory for the team that plays positive and looks for tries (hopefully the Blues!)

If NSW goes in battle with this team, I believe they can win it by 13. Providing Ricky Stuart comes up with a game plan that directs as much traffic as possible to the QLD two centres Hodges and Inglis. Also to get the ball in the hands of our two centres in Hayne and Gasnier as much as possible. He could also swap the two centres, with Gasnier on the left and Hayne on the right, to mark Inglis!
Anthony Minichiello, Brett Morris, Jarryd Hayne, Mark Gasnier, Akuila Uate, Jamie Soward, Mitchell Pearce, Greg Bird, Glenn Stewart, Ben Creagh, Tim Mannah, Michael Ennis, Paul Gallen (c). Interchange: Kurt Gidley, Keith Galloway, Luke Lewis, Anthony Watmough.
