Pied Piper Goodell is slowly leading the NFL off the edge

Ray Rice is one of several recent scandals in the NFL. With a dissatisfied public, the IRB should target the American market - now.

The National Football League has had so many issues in the past few weeks. What should have been a positive start to the season has been undermined by significant bad press.

While each organisation deals with bad press from time to time, this has been a trend in the NFL for some time. What is the common denominator in all of this negativity? NFL head honcho Roger Goodell. It is clear that the NFL needs to remove Goodell.

But not at the end of the season. Now, and I mean right now.

There is no way the inconsistency applied by suspending a player for a season for using PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs) or smoking marijuana, but not suspending a player for the entire season for abusing their fiancé can and should be accepted.

Ray Rice has been filmed beating and dragging his fiance from a casino elevator and across the floor. The NFL seemed unconcerned until the footage was released to the public by TMZ.

The Ray Rice situation showed that the NFL cares more about its players than the victims. The League waited until a second video was released before Goodell suspended Rice indefinitely and the Baltimore Ravens terminated his contract.

What should Goodell do? Do not provide a suspension to Ray Rice. If you want to show that you have no tolerance for domestic violence, bar him from the league for life.

Rice should never take the field again in the NFL, and should face serious consequences.
