Correction Harry.
Jack Mesley is a rugby man, played Brumbies U19s while at uni, played at Woollahra Colleagues at the same time I was at the club, represented NSW Subbies. He was a very good 12.
Five surprises, five disappointments and five things to figure out as Super Rugby 2024 reaches the end game
Not what I’m proposing at all.
Very interested to hear some of these many better options.

Vic and WA represent around 10% of the playing population each these days and are the area where numbers are growing.
I think we’d be crazy to scrap the investment that has been made.

He was a rugby player MJ. Was at Colleagues at the same time I was there. Jack a first grader and NSW Subbies rep team player while I was in lower grades.
He played Brumbies U-19’s back in his uni days

G’day Chips, no doubt Tahs and Reds need to rebrand but they are not the NSW and Qld rep sides of old so that has largely already occurred.
I think the additional teams need to be in population centres.
I don’t support promoting existing clubs, I think existing clubs already provide critical roles in the locations and comps they exist in today.
If any get promoted then they need to show their ability to attract a fanbase and we probably need to replace them in their current location in their current comps.

Stan deal ends next year, replacement broadcast deal was meant to be getting completed end of last year/start of this one but has been radio silence.
There is an agreement with NZR to stay in SRP until 2030 that was tied to cash payment from NZR to RA and agreement on revenue sharing on the next broadcast deal but if RA aren’t financially solvent, what happens?
Yep good players go offshore, we have to rely the competition giving all a chance to win, uncertainty of result and quality being higher than any individual Premier comp in any of our cities can produce to capture and build the fanbase.
It won’t be Super but should be better than heading down to watch your local club.
UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival
They’ll need to run a process, find bidders, investors, sponsors, members, pitches and all the rest.
I expect it’s additional teams in Sydney and Brisbane but would be open to other areas if they can show their finances will support a side.

Exit Super, end the Giteau rule, live within our means with a national comp that has the existing 5 pro teams as the foundation, while selecting Wallabies from anywhere.
Consolidate all debt at RA under their credit line, stop accruing more and use the Lions and WC to pay it all off. Critically ensure we have a sustainable model once that debt is repaid.
Seeing nothing at this stage that says we’ll have a model that pays for itself if we keep going the way we are.

Again, I don’t know the amount he settled for just that it is a different two year deal.
NOT the 1.8m over three year deal that initially got reported.

We don’t know what Jorgensen got paid.
He knocked back the three year deal that was reported and took a two year deal instead.
Comment was he was backing himself for an bigger deal next contract.

Come Roar Headline Writers we can be better than this.
Christy is correct, a blow to the Waratahs and to Oz rugby.
We don’t need the red rag for the easily triggered of the headline calling Wallabies. The site can be better than this.

What’s happened to Nick Frost? Looked a shadow of himself this season, was packing left side at scrum time even with Hooper partnering him.
He’s massively off the boil and is he now dropped or injured?

Brock! What legend!

Brumbies to welcome back Wallabies duo for 'Canes clash after week of soul-searching, Tahs to tweak side for Chiefs
My concern is the possible voting structure put forward has voting from a Super side.
Seems to assume keeping that comp which is a core problem IMO

Can we choose which games to consider? Then I’d probably restrict the sample to just games between NZ sides and the Tahs! 😂
Brumbies 'systematically taken apart by the Blues' in 'non-contest' as Larkham's men cop huge reality check
measured across a range of metrics
This is actually it Cec. For me picking 8 starters, 5 bench, I’m not really clear at this stage who the bench loosehead or the bench backrower should be.
Outside of those to two positions (and assuming everyone fit), then I could easily see 3 Reds, 2 Brumbies, 2 from France, 2 Rebels, 1 Force and 1 Tah
Looseheads – Bell / another (maybe Hodgeman?)
Hoopers – Paenga-Amosa / Faessler
Tightheads – Tupou / Alaalatoa
Locks – Rodda / Skelton / Salakaia-Loto
Openside – McReight (Although I’m a big Tizzano fan and hope he keeps improving, would love to see Reimer starting and getting more of a chance to push as well)
6/8/bench backrower – Valetini / Leota / another (probably 9 guys all worthy of consideration for that last spot)

Cec, maybe we need to look at which SRAU forwards have stood up against the stronger NZ packs.
Obviously the Wallabies won’t be facing Aussie packs so performance against NZ sides might be the better benchmark?

Great to hear Rodda back and a good first up performance.
Well done Force!

Don’t forget the poor old Reds, only able to “rout” the Highlanders.
When will this criminal under celebration end?

Wasn’t pretty Doc.
For the Wallabies sake, hopefully an aberration and they bounce back against the Canes.

Thanks Christy. That is very good money for someone yet to play a test.
