Sweet revenge for Rafa as de Minaur downed to keep legend's Madrid fairytale alive
Alex de Minaur has missed out on the chance of a lifetime to beat Rafael Nadal on clay in successive tournaments, blown away by…
The 2019 tennis season will get underway with a bang in Perth as the Hopman Cup launches the Australian summer of tennis. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming the tournament online or watching it on TV.
The tournament is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, December 28 and run until Saturday, January 5 with all matches set to be played at the Perth Arena in Western Australia.
Unlike regular tennis tournaments, this is played in teams and doesn’t feature a knockout element, making it perfect preparation for the Australian Open in a fortnight.
Eight teams of two (one man, one woman) are split into two groups and compete in a round-robin stage featuring men’s singles, women’s singles and a mixed doubles match, meaning every player will get at least three days of tennis regardless of results.
The final is then played between the two group winners on the final day.
Under a new TV deal with Tennis Australia, the Hopman Cup will be screened on Channel 9 this year.
While it’s unclear exactly which of their stations the tournament will be shown on, it’s likely to be either 9Gem or 9Go, with each match throughout the Hopman Cup set to be live in some capacity.
Meanwhile, the tournament will also be available to watch online through the Channel 9 streaming application, known as 9Now.
