Veteran goalkeeper Ante Covic says he’s got plenty of gas left in the tank after signing for Perth Glory for the upcoming A-League season.
Covic, the player of the tournament at the 2014 Asian Champions League, was surprisingly axed by Western Sydney at the end of last season.
The 40-year-old has inked a one-year deal with the Glory, who lost first-choice goalkeeper Danny Vukovic at the end of last season.
“I’ve got plenty of gas in the tank and I still have a lot to give back to the game,” Covic said.
“I’ve thought long and hard about this and the opportunity to extend my career ticks off some personal goals.
“The chance to play for Perth Glory and win something with a different club is exciting, and that’s what’s most appealing to me.”
Covic played a crucial role in the Wanderers’ victory over Al-Hilal in last November’s ACL final.
“Winning the Asian Champions League medal was an amazing feat and it’s something that I’ll never forget,” Covic said.
“I’ve made history with the Wanderers, but now I want to leave my mark with another A-league club for as long as I can.”
