Zac writes: The Roar is all about your sports opinion. We see it as a platform for sports lovers to read, comment and write about sports. In the age of citizen journalism, we see you as controlling and contributing to the content on our site.
One of the differentiators of The Roar from forums or other ‘crowd-sourcing’ sites is that we aim to seed our discussions with world class content. This started with Spiro Zavos, and continues with Garth Hamilton, Andrew Logan and our growing stable of other columnists and Roar of the crowd writers. Anyone who’s been on the discussion threads knows that our comments are often as insightful and interesting as the original article.
We have recently started sourcing selected content from the news agency AAP. Our aim is to provide you with insight into a broader range and depth of sports coverage. We aim to select articles which are more about sports angles rather than simply news and which fit in with the interests, as we see it, of our readers. And, most importantly, to spread the range of stories that our readers will want to make comments on. We see the agency articles as supplementing our sports opinion coverage rather than replacing it – and allowing us to seed discussions in a broad range of sports.
