Honeymoon is over for the Melbourne Tigers

Much has been said about the form of the Melbourne Tigers this season. It was said they could have made a clean sweep of the competition, but their early form indicated quite the opposite.

They struggled through the majority of the season with serious health issues for Sam Mackinnon, Chris Anstey suffering a mysterious illness affecting his athleticism and of course the recent sacking of import Rod Grizzard.

Overall it’s been a pretty ordinary performance by their standards, yet they find themselves sitting second on the ladder and not far from the Dragons in top spot.

With six wins on the trot, and two over the Breakers this week, the Tigers appear to be back.

They’ve lifted their game in the last few weeks to silence the critics and show that the honeymoon is over and they truly are a championship contender again this season.

Early form is nothing to go on and it all comes down to where you sit at the end of the day.

With the sun fast setting on another NBL season, the Tigers are sitting pretty. Can they go back to back?

We’ll know the answer to that soon enough.

But one thing is certain, their early in form cross town rivals in the Dragons better have something left in the tank because the Tigers are coming, and coming hard.
