Snowboarder Torah Bright will carry the Australian flag in the opening ceremony for the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The 23-year-old from the NSW town of Cooma was announced as the official flagbearer at an Australian team function on Thursday evening.
Experienced aerial skiers Jacqui Cooper and Lydia Lassila would also have been in contention for the honour, but both have chosen to remain at their training base in eastern Canada and will miss Friday night’s opening ceremony.
The ceremony begins at 6pm local time (1300 AEDT Saturday).
