The NRL round review, Week 12

Another cracking week of NRL action is coming our way, but not without some laughs first.

Dragons v Eels. WIN Jubilee Oval, Kogarah. Friday 7.35pm

Hot on the heels of Apple’s iPad launch in Australia, Parramatta have announced a major sponsorship deal with the technology powerhouse and will be releasing a new product of their own during the game. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves to be amazed by the iPoore, a big lump of a uselessness that gets hammered every time it boots up. Dragons by 20.

Tigers v Warriors. Campbelltown Stadium, God’s Country. Friday 7.35pm

The Tigers announced a major coup this week with the signing of Warriors fullback Wade McKinnon for the remainder of 2010. Unfortunately, in a frank admission of paralysing fear at the prospect of facing McKinnon with the added power that comes with donning a Tigers jersey, the Warriors demanded that McKinnon take no part in this game. In honour of their former team mate, the rest of the Warriors players have agreed to take no active part in the match either. Tigers by 40.

Sharks v Broncos. Toyota Stadium, Cronulla. Saturday 5.30pm

Ricky Stuart dropped a bombshell on the Sharks when he revealed that he would stop coaching the team at the end of the season. Rumour has it the club’s board was shocked by Stuart’s declaration, mainly because most of the team thought he had given up a season and a half ago. In a battle of two lame duck coaches, look for Ivan the horrible to win out in this one. Broncos by 8.

Cowboys v Eagles. Dairy Farmers Stadium, Townsville. Saturday 7.30pm

Fresh from his man of the match performance in Origin, Cowboys superstar Johnathon Thurston will take out yet another award against the Eagles. After the inevitable drubbing his team will cop, despite his efforts, Thurston will graciously accept the man of the mis-match award. Eagles by 30.

Storm v Bulldogs. AAMI Park, Melbourne. Sunday 2.00pm

Hey, Michael Ennis, the Invisible man called, he wants to congratulate you on your impersonation of him in Wednesday nights game. Even Noddy couldn’t see you passing him the ball. Unfortunately, with so many Queenslanders lining up for the Storm, Ennis will probably be wishing he really was invisible. Storm by 20.

Rabbitohs v Panthers. ANZ Stadium, Sydney. Sunday, 3.00pm

Our ever observant round review ninjas discovered a bottle washed up on the beaches of Penrith (great surf spot, check it out) with a note addressed to Panthers centre, Michael Jennings. It read simply: “Michael, we were wrong, very wrong. SOS. Regards, NSW State of Origin”. Look for Jennings to make his Origin one omission look even more ridiculous with another hat trick in this one. Panthers by 18.

Titans v Chooks. Skilled Park, Gold Coast. Monday 7.00pm

Roosters management were left red-faced when booking flights to the Gold Coast for this clash. QANTAS insisted that the club book two seats for Jarad Waerea-Hargreaves. One for the Kiwi firebrand, and one for his mouth. We here at round review HQ think the Roosters got off lightly, they could have been made to book space in the cargo hold for JWH’s ego. Titans by 8.

Good luck to all, and go the Tigers.
