While AFL is the No.1 football comp in Australia, it is the state leagues (feeder comps to the AFL) that provide most of the players being drafted. But which state league competition is the best outside the AFL?

Is it the VFL, which has teams that are well-known to footy followers such as Sandringham, Port Melbourne, Williamstown, and has a tougher brand of football, seeing that most players drop back from their AFL Victorian club to find form in the VFL?

Could it be the WAFL, which has teams such as South Fremantle, Claremont, Swan Districts? The WAFL has a free-flowing style of football and supplies players to the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers.

Or is it the SANFL, which has clubs such as Port Adelaide, Norwood, Glenelg and Central Districts? The skill level of most SANFL games has critics saying that the SANFL is No.1 as far as the best competition outside the AFL is concerned.

So, which state league comp is the best outside the AFL? Is it the VFL, SANFL or WAFL (with apologies to Tasmania)?
