Star Sydney Rooster’s player and perennial bad boy Todd Carney has the axe hovering over him, with Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce this morning fronting a press conference to explain that the decision by the Roosters will take place later this afternoon.
In a non-announcement at a press conference called to explain the Roosters investigation, Noyce told media that he would not be revealing the fate of the Sydney Rooster’s players Carney and Anthony Watts until later this afternoon.
Watts was arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Shannon Kiss, while Todd Carney was with Watts on the night and has admitted breaching a promise not to drink in the 2011 season. Carney’s indiscretion follow a string of bad behaviour incidents.
Noyce told waiting media, “There’s no reports of anti-social at Palace, Coogee Bay and Trademark hotel.
“It is clear that both players consumed alcohol over the course of Saturday and Sunday, which one breaches club policy about players consuming alcohol whilst injured and also breaches undertakings both players had given to the club about not consuming alcohol during the 2011 season,” he said.
Noyce was cagey on whether or not a decision had been already been made, referring to chairman Nick Politis being overseas on Greece as a stumbling block to formalising any decision by the club.
