Scotland will be looking to put a poor Six Nations performance behind them as they take on Romania in the opening Pool B match this morning. Join us for live scores of Scotland vs Romania from 11.00am AEST.

The Scots were comprehensively beaten in their first four Six Nations before beating fellow competition lightweights Italy, and will need to significantly improve on that form if they have any intentions of making the quarter-finals.

They will be heartened by the two wins they have had registered since the Six Nations, beating Ireland 10-6 and Italy 23-12.

Romania will be looking to spring an upset over the European counterparts and will be confident coming into the tournament on the back of some solid form in the European Nations Cup, albeit against fair inferior opposition.

However, they’ve made six changes from the side who won comfortably over Ukraine 41-7, including captain Marius Tincu and record Romanian test cap holder Cristian Petre.

The match is to take place in Invercargill in southern New Zealand, and the Scots will be home in the cold, blustery conditions that are expected, with rain also forecast.

The wintery conditions will favour Scotland and we could be in for a repeat of the two sides’ meeting at the 2007 World Cup, when Romania were hammered 42-0.

It might not be match of the tournament be any stretch of the imagination, but a tight, physical encounter could be on the cards, and the match presents for Scotland a perfect opportunity to kick-start their campaign.
