In every sport, weather plays a part. Sometimes it can work in your favour, and sometimes it can be your worst nightmare. But that’s what makes sport interesting.

If it rains, then play is suspended, which is fine, but to take players off because of bad light is downright ridiculous. Test cricket is struggling enough to compete with T20 cricket and this is not helping one bit.

One of my greatest memories is batting in the drizzle and bad light for four hours, just to score 37 runs that helped my team score the 55 runs needed to take our team into the grand final.

It was the hardest innings I played because I had to concentrate harder then normal but that’s what made it so memorable.

What next do we take teams off for; probably because it’s becoming a little overcast and the ball is starting to swing, which the other team didn’t have the advantage of?

Please throw those silly light machines in the bin and leave the game alone.
