Port Adelaide smooth mover Danyle Pearce is finally delivering consistent quality football and the Power are reaping the rewards, winning three games on the trot.

The former Rising Star winner has been much maligned during his eight years at the club.

Constantly the focus of heavy tags from opposition teams, Pearce had struggled to influence matches when he was made accountable.

Consequently, he found himself in and out of the team, much to the frustration of fans who knew what the South Australian was capable of.

However, the 26-year-old has put in the hard yards over the preseason and developed an enormous tank, enabling him to outrun his opponents and lose taggers through sheer work effort.

Pearce’s improved running capacity was evident during last night’s 54-point upset win over Carlton.

Pearce kicked a crucial goal in second quarter after engineering the forward movement from half back. He sprinted nearly 100m down the ground, roved a contest and finished with a left foot snap to give the Power some breathing space.

In the first half Pearce was matched up against Carlton’s Kade Simpson, before eventually copping a tag from Dennis Armfield.

However, neither were able to effectively curb Pearce’s influence.

Pearce finished the night with 19 touches at 84 percent efficiency, as well as seven tackles.

Since being dropped from the team following the round five showdown loss to the Crows, Pearce has been on fire.

He returned in Port’s thrilling come from behind win over North Melbourne in round eight in stunning fashion, racking up 30 touches at 80 percent efficiency including 12 rebound 50’s.

Pearce backed up his stunning performance the following week against the Gold Coast 28 touches and six clearances.

It is no coincidence Pearce’s stunning form has mirrored that of the Power, who have won three consecutive games.
