Rising Central Coast star Tomas Rogic has been given a three-game A-League suspension for his rash challenge on Sydney midfielder Rhyan Grant in Thursday night’s loss to the Sky Blues.

Rogic was red-carded for the wild tackle which occurred in the 95th minute of the spiteful fixture, prompting an automatic one-game ban, but the independent match review panel advised of the additional two-match ban on Saturday.

The Mariners have decided not to fight the ban.

Rogic is understood to be disappointed by the ban, which will force him out of clashes with Perth, Western Sydney Wanderers and a highly-anticipated showdown with heavyweights Melbourne Victory.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a significant rise in 2012, taking a bigger role at the table-topping Mariners while also making his Socceroos debut in a 2-1 victory over South Korea in November.
