“Roll up, Roll up.

Come closer in the back.

Anyone here fancy a game of cricket?

You, sir, ever picked up a bat or ball before? Got an Aussie passport?

Yes. Well, congratulations, here is a brand new baggy green cap for you.”

Cricket Australia’s current “give everyone a game policy” should be applauded for encapsulating that old Aussie spirit of giving everyone a fair go. That they are applying it to the selection of the national cricket side is genius.

By playing everyone who has ever held a bat before, the public feel in touch with the side as most of them will have played for them.

This kind of inclusiveness is ground breaking and is the sort of thing that will bind this great multi-cultural country together.

It has taken great courage on the part of Cricket Australia to go down this route. Many people would have told them that it couldn’t be done. How, after all do you give a game to millions of Aussie men in a side of just 11 players?

CA, however are smarter than the average bear and have come up with an ingenious solution. Not only will they play virtually 11 different players in each of the three formats of the game they will schedule multiple matches in different countries at the same time!

The bigwigs at CA certainly know their stuff and one can foresee a future where there are multiple Australian cricket teams competing for the Ashes, Border-Gavaskar Trophy and Frank Worrell Trophy all at the same time in different parts of the world thereby giving 33 players the chance to play at the same time.

Rather than diluting cricket this will help grow the game. What cricket lover is not going to love seeing their beloved national team playing on Fox Sports 24 hours a day!

It will also be good for the economy as a fantastic initiative to boost the employment figures.

Ex-players will have jobs for life covering the never ending cycle of games, new umpires will be required worldwide, not to mention the myriad of hangers on and backroom staff just to get the players out on the field.

Even the much heralded sports scientists and their supplement programs will get a boost.
